Ask anyone in the date trade about Pakistan and one word comes up first: Aseel. Grown for centuries in the Khairpur region of Sindh, Aseel is the country’s flagship date variety — and the heart of everything we grow at Sky Star.
What makes Aseel special?
Aseel dates are medium to large fruit with dense, fudgy flesh and a deep caramel sweetness — less floral than Medjool, less dry than Deglet Noor, with a flavour many describe as closer to soft toffee. The variety’s natural balance of sugars and moisture means it can be enjoyed fresh in season, semi-dried for retail, or fully dried into the hard chuhara loved across South Asia.
That versatility is exactly why Aseel dominates Pakistan’s date exports. One variety supports whole dates, pitted dates, diced pieces, powder and paste — a complete product line from a single grove.
Why Khairpur?
Khairpur sits in the palm belt along the Indus, where scorching summers, alluvial soil and reliable irrigation combine into near-perfect date country. Harvest arrives with the July heat, when the fruit reaches full sugar before the monsoon. Our own 300-acre farm here carries more than 60,000 palms, many decades old — because a date palm, like a good reputation, takes years to mature.
How we grade Aseel
- Premium — largest fruit, even colour, soft texture; for high-end retail and gifting.
- Grade A — export standard for supermarkets and distributors.
- Industrial — sound fruit at sharp pricing for processing into paste, powder and diced dates.
Every carton that leaves our facility is hand sorted — machine grading helps with size, but colour and skin condition still need trained human eyes.

Fresh-season Aseel books out quickly, so importers typically reserve volumes before harvest. Semi-dried and dried formats are available year-round from storage.
